I have been "told" by everyone lately that I need to be better at posting! Ok. Let's see over the last month we have - gone on vacation to San Diego - we had a wonderful time, the weather was perfect, finally got to visit my Uncle Buzzy and his wife, Kathy and see their lovely home, and spend wonderful time with Cyndi, Jeremy and the boys and our Kathie. We went to Legoland, the coast at LaJolla where we saw harbor seals and played in
the sand, visited the lagoons of Carlsbad, went to the zoo, and again played on the beach and got very wet. Roll drum please! pictures to follow.
We also have three new kittens presented to us by our "male" cat Kimball - they are white, tabby and brown - and two new calves from two of our cows. Our three ducklings have tripled in size and are almost ready to take down to the pond. Also, Ducky Wucky, our Mandarin duck has a girl friend that is a coot. That is a different type of duck that swims under water. Spring has finally found our corner of the world and all of our trees have bloomed since we left for California. Duke, our paranoid puppy is still paranoid but is getting better. One thing you can say for him is he is obedient - at least to me. He does love to be outside and so we are planning on building him a kennel. Oh, and one of our chickens is broody which means she is sitting on a nest and have 5 eggs she is trying to hatch. We will see. She will leave them for a few minutes to get food and water and then be back in her nesting box.
We came back from California on Saturday night and went to Church and then went over to Shelly's for a yummy Easter dinner and the kids had a egg hunt. Interesting side bar - Nathan and Mandy are not big sweets eaters and so all but a couple of the stuffed Easter eggs are still upstairs in the bags and will remain there until I get tired of looking at them and throw them away.
This weekend Becca came to spend the night on Friday and then helped us with the garden on Saturday. She needed to put in 10 hours worth of work on a garden for her Young Woman program. Anyway, we had a good time with her and we worked for 4 hours on digging mint out of our garden and as Becca so wisely put it "don't ever plant mint!" By way of defense - I didn't plant it, the previous owner did and it had spread everywhere. We were very busy on Saturday and got the garden rototilled, the chicken coop flooring down and repaired a fence that had been broken by the cows. Now, I am going to try put some pictures in this post! My head is down in shame but after picking the pictures and trying to send them over the computer said it couldn't do it! Big sigh, I will have to have another tutorial with Shelly.
