Just a little aside

Mandy got a hair cut this week.  While in Germany I realized how long and time consuming her hair had become so one of the first things we did was go to a hair salon and have it chopped and chopped they did.  We sent over 12 inches of hair to Locks of Love. Now, introducing the new Mandy:

We both really like it – for several reason.  One, she can do her own hair.  We both like that!

On to Germany – we took our first trip to a place called Garmisch, which is in South Germany.  It is right at the tip of the Alps and is a very pretty place.IMG_3483

This was just taken from the road.  Starting to see mountains.

This is the view from our balcony.  We stayed at a cute little Bed and Breakfast in a tiny town called Bad Kohlgrub.  We were right on the main street and though I didn’t like the traffic everything was so close.  We walked to the grocery store, the ice cream store, the restaurant we liked and walked around a little trail they had mapped out. This picture was actually for Asia.  Our whole room was decorated like this beautiful “shrug”.  There are no built in closets so they build them and they work great.  Asia likes this hand painting and so did I.  Evidently, it is quite expensive as Asia is saving her pennies and Euros to buy a large one.

Not the best picture but we visited one of King Ludwig II’s castle, Linderhof.  This was more of a chateau and he stayed here frequently.  It was incredible inside but you couldn’t take pictures although you could buy them.IMG_3497 When we came out of the tour this is the fountain that you see.IMG_3501

King Ludwig II was a patron of the arts and  he built a grotto – yes a cave to perform some of the pieces.  We are walking to the grotto.  From the outside, the cave looks natural although it is manmade.IMG_3502

Sorry, my camera’s batteries died about now so, I didn’t get to take pictures of the lake inside the cave or the mural that was painted on the ceiling.  King Ludwig II is interesting, look him up.  He reminded me of Michael Jackson and the way he lived.

More tomorrow.  We have been busy with day camp and dog surgery, etc.  Sandy (mother of the puppies) had surgery today.  They removed the head of her femur and spade her.  The head of the femur usually comes off easily (so says the Vet.) but because this one was diseased it shattered and the Vet had to go looking for tiny bits of bone.  Sigh, always something.
