Our trip to Europe to see Asia and her family

Mandy and I left for Germany on May 16th.  We had a wonderful trip and returned on June 14th.  Daddy and Nathan joined us on May 31st.  We, of course, went to meet out newest grandson and enjoy a visit with his Mom and Dad and siblings, Aurora and Gideon.  I guess I will just go along with the pictures.  On The Saturday after we got there – Asia, Mandy, Gideon and I went to the market at Herrenberg, a little town close to where they live.  It was a nice day with a cute  town and wonderful fresh fruits and vegetables.  IMG_3251 IMG_3253

It was a classic little town and we had a snack of pretzels and pastry.  We had a nice time shopping.

Asia and Ben live in a German neighborhood.  It is very clean and orderly and everyone seems to take good care of their property.  Aurora and Gideon go to a small preschool about 3 short blocks away and there is a small neighborhood park that the kids go to when it is nice.  We went there several times while we were there.  The kids play together with no language barrier.

Gideon was playing in this building.  You pull on the rope and a container comes up with sand and then he would dump the sand down the brown container on the side and then we would do it again.  He loved it.

IMG_3263 They have a little water area and the kids pump the pump and water comes up and then pours down the side and into the sand, where the kids play with it.  Aurora is in the blue and her little friend in red, go to school together. IMG_3289

A rather random picture but what Asia’s sees when she is doing the dishes.  This is the view she gets to see each day.  I just thought it was a wonderful view.

Our beautiful Eagan.  He has Asia’s light complexion but looks like he will have more strawberry blonde hair than the light blonde.

I passed this house each day when we went to pick the kids up from school.  The yards are just kept very nice and the flowers are beautiful.  I was impressed at how hard working the German people are.

On Saturday, we went to a castle with gardens and they had a very nice play area for children.  This is the castle and there were several weddings taking place while we were there.IMG_3321

Mandy took many pictures of flowers while we walked. IMG_3322

There was a small boat that went around the water.  All of the children’s area was based on fairy tales.  Pinocchio, Aladdin and the lamp, etc.  These were little vignettes that when you pushed a button, they was movement and lights and talking.

IMG_3379 We stopped at a grassy place where they had little water geysers and the kids got wet.

Gideon stripped down to his diaper and came down the slide.

We found a dragon and so everyone had to climb on him.

We finished the day with a train ride, went up to Rapunzel’s tower and then ate ice cream on our way out.  A very nice adventure.

There are many more pictures and will post more tomorrow.
