I still seem to be having a problem getting back to everyday life. I didn’t have jet lag or anything, just can’t seem to get everything cleaned and organized and together. I think because it is summer and I don’t have specific things that have to be done – some things just don’t get done.
The kids have wanted us to get a pool for some time now. We just have decided $30,000 is a bit too much for right now. So, we bought an above the ground pool. The kids and I put up a small tent first so we could have shade. While doing that I noticed that Lily’s water bowl had been turned over. It is definitely too hot to go without water and so I went over to put some water in. Lily is on a chain and the water hose was wrapped around it and by the time I could got Lily calm enough to get the chain and water hose separated her chain wrapped around my index finger and she pulled. I think it broke. It hurt a lot anyway. We went inside after getting the tent up to cool off (it was heat index of 115*) and our electricity had gone off! Joy. We ended up going out to eat and when we came back we had power. Very, very glad. I didn’t want to sleep in the heat.
The next day we set up the pool – A little bit of a challenge with the three of us but we did it. Pulling out the pool to straighten it before we set it up.
Trying to get all of the poles out and the plastic off.
Mandy working on the other parts in the shade. Smart girl!
Just about up. We had to straighten everything and fill it with water and then set the pump up. The kids have used it each day and had a good time. I don’t know how long it will last but for now it is fun and very refreshing.
On another note, our dog, Sandy hasn’t been doing well. She had surgery on her back leg and has yet to touch it back down. She was supposed to do that on day 3. Oh well, it was worth a try. She may just be a 3 legged dog. She gets around ok.
The summer is hot right now but we are thankfully getting rain and so everything is still green. Our crepe myrtles are blooming and that is good. We lost our yard helper, Alek as he had the audacity to grow up and get a regular job. He will be missed as he is a wonderful young man and did a lot of work around here. Nathan is mowing with the riding lawn mower and is doing a good job. We will probably have to replace Alek though because just the yard part is 2 acres and then we have fences to fix and trees to trim, etc.
We have the 4th of July coming up and we are going to have people over and just enjoy the day. I will post pictures next week.
